What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a complementary therapy which is a non-invasive and treats the whole person. It is based on the concept that every organ and structure in the body is represented in miniature in the feet, and also in the hands. The reflexologist uses therapeutic touch to detect and treat sensitive reflexes. Reflexology can bring about the same sensation of relaxation and restfulness that a full body massage can produce and so it is very helpful in the treatment of stress.
"I know how reflexology makes me feel afterwards and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to feel wonderful and relaxed."
26 year old pregnant lady suffering with back ache, mood swings and tiredness.
Reflexology needs no pills or potions to be effective. It is also generally not invasive of personal space as the therapist sits at the distance of the feet or hands. Although reflexology is done mainly on the feet it can also be done hand reflexology or a combination of both is also possible.
What happens in a Reflexology Treatment?
You should expect an hour's reflexology treatment in a relaxing environment where you will need to remove your shoes and socks and sit in a semi reclined position on a couch or chair. No equipment is used, only the power of human touch. During a course of a reflexology treatment appropriate home care advice and self help techniques may be given.
